Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is calling on the Texas Senate to adopt the House’s school voucher plan.
On Friday, Patrick endorsed the House bill, which the House had passed on Wednesday. The Senate passed a slightly different voucher plan in February.
School vouchers are a long-term priority for Patrick and Governor Greg Abbott, but had been defeated several times in the House in previous sessions. Abbott successfully supported primary opponents of several anti-voucher Republicans prior to this year’s legislative session.
