Man Charged With Negligent Homicide After Deadly Crash In San Benito

A truck driver has been charged with negligent homicide after a deadly weekend crash in San Benito.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened at the intersection of FM-1421 and Road 233 on Saturday. Investigators say the driver was texting just before his truck crashed into a vehicle attempting to make a left turn.

Seventy-year-old Lorenzo Guajardo of San Benito died in the crash. Luis Gonzalez Altamirano of Mexico was given a 500-thousand-dollar bond following his arrest.
