Leatherwood Found Guilty Of Manslaughter In Constable Death

A man is facing a prison sentence after causing the death of a Cameron County deputy constable. A jury found Jesse Leatherwood guilty of intoxication manslaughter yesterday.

Leatherwood was arrested last September after he crashed into the vehicle of Deputy Constable Ruben Garcia in Brownsville last September.

Leatherwood testified yesterday that he used cocaine on the morning of the crash and was looking at his phone just before the crash happened.
