Students at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley are celebrating their fourth national championship in chess. The UTRGV team was named co-champions at the President’s Cup competition earlier this month.
The team also won championships in 2018, 2019 and 2021. The team will be recognized at halftime of the UTRGV spring football game this Thursday.
