Several South Texas police departments will join an effort to crack down on impaired driving during Spring Break.
The departments have received grants from the Texas Department of Transportation to pay the cost of putting additional officers on patrol.
TxDOT says there were 375 crashes during Spring Break 2023 involving drivers between 17 and 30-years-old. Nine young drivers died in those crashes. The effort begins tomorrow and will last through March 23rd.
