A private company has successfully landed a spacecraft on the moon. Firefly Aerospace landed its Blue Ghost spacecraft on the lunar surface at about 3:30 this morning Eastern time.
The uncrewed, six-foot tall lunar lander was launched back in January, and Firefly CEO Jason Kim said the Blue Ghost was “stable and upright” upon touchdown early Sunday.
The Texas-based Firefly Aerospace is only the second private-sector company ever to land a spacecraft on the moon.
