Man Arrested For Alleged Assault On CBP Officer In Cameron County

A man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a Customs and Border Protection officer in Cameron County. Investigators say a CBP officer detected the smell of marijuana in a vehicle at the Gateway International Bridge early Sunday.

The vehicle was referred for a secondary inspection and a male passenger allegedly became confrontational. When officers tried to pull him from the vehicle, the suspect reportedly kicked a supervisor in the face. Another officer was treated for back and knee injuries. The suspect is due in court for a hearing tomorrow.
