Mexican authorities are investigating after a South Texas man was reportedly kidnapped and killed in Reynosa last week. The body of 81-year-old Jose de la Luz Martinez Ramirez was found on Saturday.
Investigators believe he crossed the border on Thursday to pay property taxes on land he owned in Mexico. His abandoned vehicle was found in Reynosa on Friday, and his cell phone was tracked to a home where he may have been held captive.
Mexican investigators have not released any information on the cause or manner of the elderly man’s death.
