Weslaco police say a suspect is in custody after a pursuit that ended in a struggle for an officer’s gun. The chase began Thursday evening after a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of FM-1015 and Camino Real Road. The suspect drove away toward Mercedes and refused to stop until crashing into a Weslaco police unit.
The suspect allegedly tried to grab the officer’s weapon during a struggle but was eventually restrained. The unidentified suspect faces multiple charges including aggravated assault on a peace officer and evading arrest.
