The Texas Department of Transportation plans to treat roads and bridges in South Texas ahead of a steep temperature drop.
The agency says crews will be putting brine on roads and overpasses today to help keep ice from forming. Operations will be conducted in Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy, Starr, Zapata, Brooks, Jim Hogg and Kenedy counties.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Deep South Texas that will begin at midnight tonight and last through 9 a.m.
