Trump Picks Texas Border Czar To Head Border Patrol

A special advisor to Governor Greg Abbott for border matters is reportedly President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the U.S. Border Patrol. Mike Banks is a retired Border Patrol agent who has served as the “border czar” for Texas ever since Abbott created the position in 2023.

Banks has served as an advisor while Abbott’s border security initiative, known as Operation Lone Star, clashed with the Biden administration over immigration enforcement. Republican U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas said on Thursday that Banks is a “great choice.”
