A Republican state senator says he’s confident the Legislature will support his efforts to boost funding for the Texas water supply. Senator Charles Perry of Lubbock says he wants a constitutional vote in November to provide perpetual funding for the state’s water infrastructure.
Unlike Texas roads and highways, the state’s water pipes, reservoirs, and treatment facilities lack a regular funding source. Perry says he has the support of Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and various members of the state legislature.
