The Cowboys will reportedly not allow an NFC opponent to interview their head coach. ESPN says Dallas has denied permission to the Chicago Bears to interview Mike McCarthy for their vacant head coaching spot.

McCarthy’s contract expired Wednesday, but the Cowboys hold exclusive negotiating rights through January 14th. McCarthy has led Dallas to a combined 49-and-35 record since taking over in 2020.

The one-time Super Bowl-winning head coach has compiled 174 wins in his career, which ranks 13th in NFL history.
