Three men are facing federal charges after trying to smuggle thousands of rounds of ammunition into Mexico.

Customs and Border Protection officers ordered a secondary inspection for two vehicles trying to cross the Anzalduas International Bridge in McAllen on Tuesday. Inspectors found 68-hundred rounds of ammunition in the two vehicles.

The three men reportedly admitted knowing that it was illegal to try to take ammunition across the border. All three are scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing today.
