The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office says one person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in rural Donna. A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance call early Sunday morning in the four-thousand block of Amelia Lane.
Investigators say the deputy’s unit was hit intentionally at high speed by a vehicle trying to leave the area. A man got out of that vehicle and was shot after he allegedly approached the deputy. Thirty-four-year-old Javier Aguilar died after he was taken to McAllen Medical Center. The deputy was injured in the crash but has been released from the hospital. The shooting is currently being investigated.
