Police are investigating the death of a Harris County deputy’s horse on a southwest Houston freeway over the weekend.
The sheriff’s office says a mounted patrol deputy was working an extra security job at Meyerland Plaza on Saturday night. Around 8:30 p.m., the deputy tied the horse to its trailer, but it somehow got loose and ran into traffic on the 610 West Loop nearby.
Police say a pickup truck hit and killed the horse. The truck had to be towed away, but the driver wasn’t injured.
