By Governor Greg Abbott is countering efforts by the Chinese government to force dissidents to return to China. Abbott issued an executive order on Monday that directs state troopers to arrest Chinese government operatives trying to intimidate or harass Chinese pro-democracy activists living abroad.
A Chinese government initiative called Operation Fox Hunt sometimes even forcibly repatriates dissidents and government officials. The U.S. Justice Department has prosecuted people involved in the Chinese initiative.
