A man is in custody after a standoff in rural Weslaco early Sunday. Deputies from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office went to a home on El Gorrion Drive just after 5:45 a.m. to investigate a welfare concern. They were told that a man threatened to assault family members and burn his mother’s house down.
Thirty-five-year-old Misael Carrizalez was arrested just before noon and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. No injuries were reported.
