The widow of a man who died during a triathlon in Galveston is suing city officials. The lawsuit against the Galveston Board of Trustees alleges serious negligence on the part of race organizers that directly led to the death of Canadian Jean-Francois Alain earlier this year.

The widow accuses organizers of staffing the event with inexperienced lifeguards and not having enough emergency staff on hand to assist her husband when he was in distress. The suit seeks over a million dollars in damages.
