A local environmental group has filed a lawsuit that could stop the next launch of a Starship rocket from Boca Chica Beach, which SpaceX wants to conduct Sunday.

The group Save RGV is suing SpaceX over what it says are recurring nonpermitted discharges of untreated industrial wastewater into sensitive wetlands surrounding the launch site. The wastewater is coming from the launchpad fire-suppression system – a system the lawsuit says SpaceX does not have a proper permit for.

SpaceX has announced plans for a fifth Starship test flight this Sunday, pending FAA approval. The FAA has indicated, however, that SpaceX has not yet met all the requirements to be issued an updated launch license.
