An Austin cop has been found guilty of deadly conduct. On Saturday the jury returned the verdict in the trial of Christopher Taylor, the police officer charged in the shooting death of Mauris DeSilva.
Back in 2019, Taylor was one of the cops who responded to a condo complex where DeSilva was seen walking around and holding a knife to his neck, reportedly in the midst of a mental health episode. Within seconds of encountering DeSilva as he was holding the knife, Taylor and another officer opened fire, killing him.
Taylor will be sentenced in October. The verdict comes less than a year after a murder case against Taylor in connection to the death of a different suspect ended in a mistrial.
