An Alton mother is jailed after her autistic daughter was found wandering in the street alone over the weekend. 26-year-old Angela Carillo was arraigned Sunday on charges of abandoning or endangering a child and possessing illegal drugs, and was booked on bonds totaling $270,000.

Carillo’s 2-year-old daughter was found wandering alone outside the family’s apartment at around 5 a.m. Saturday. Alton police were unable to locate the girl’s family until Carillo called 911 at around 9 a.m.

Officers responded to the home, found drugs in the home, and took Carillo into custody. Child Protective Services has taken custody of the 2-year-old girl as well as a younger child found in the apartment.
