A South Texas school district is getting over five-million dollars in federal funding. Democratic Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced yesterday that the district will get five-point-four-million in Title One funding. Gonzalez said Republicans have proposed cutting Title One funding, threatening its use to supplement resources in South Texas classrooms.
The Title One program provides additional funds to schools with a high percentage of low-income families, helping those schools pay teachers, implement programs and buy equipment.
