Donna Council Fires City Attorney

0

Former Donna City Attorney Robert Salinas says he’s been targeted by members of the city council for a legal opinion they didn’t like. Salinas was fired Monday during a special meeting of the council.

The meeting came one week after a judge dismissed a temporary restraining order that had prevented an August vote on Salinas’ employment status. Salinas said his firing was directly related to his opinion that the city needs to hold an election for the council’s Place Two and Place Four seats in November. The two council members who hold those seats voted in favor of terminating Salinas.
