A Willacy County man is facing the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of kidnapping, robbing, and killing another man almost 3-1/2 years ago. 39-year-old Fernando Abundez was convicted by a Cameron County jury Friday of capital murder and four other criminal counts in the death of Martin Pena.
Abundez was found to have abducted Pena, killing him with a blow to the head, robbing him, then throwing him out of a pickup truck. Abundez will learn his sentence next Monday.
