8,600-Acre Fire Near Fredericksburg Partially Contained

A large grass fire near Fredericksburg is 40-percent contained as of Sunday morning. The blaze has scorched over 86-hundred acres north of the city since it started early Saturday afternoon. It’s unclear how the fire started, but once it did high winds and low humidity allowed it to spread rapidly.

According to the National Weather Service, the fire threat is “near critical” in the region today. No injuries have been reported but multiple structures have been destroyed.
